Royal Engineers Portrait This is a 1916 dated portrait, showing The 1st Riding Squad of the , Royal Engineers, at Aldershot. It has clearly come out of a frame recently and has damage, to the left hand and right hand corners, as shown. The clarity of the image is particularly very good, as shown. Trench Warfare Magazine This is an April 1915 dated publication, called 'War Pictures'. It is, ironically, full of illustrated stories of heroism from the front line. It is a large format publication, measuring 36 by 27 cm. The stories are most unusual and it is a most compelling read. The front cover shows a Gurkha, attacking a group of German soldiers. 11th Armoured Division Photo Album This is a late 1940's early 50's photo album. It belonged to the vet in the 11th Armoured Division. The album comprises of some 61 photos and 10 German postcards. They are all set in the album, which it is in very good condition. Most of the tanks and vehicles, in the photos, are clearly painted with the 11th Armoured Division, formation sign. In addition, many of the photos shows the personnel, with their 11th Div badges, clearly in view. The unit was stationed in the Hahnenklee/ Oberharz area. All of the photos are taken in Germany, where the vet was serving with the B.A.O.R. The majority are military related with only a few, showing the local town. The album measures 22 by 17cm. All of the photos are a good size, measuring 10 by 7 cm. There are 3 larger photos, as shown. Some of the photos are annotated on the reverse. As all of the photos are fixed on their original paper mountings, I have not removed any. 1914 Allied Flag Poster This is an unusual, First World War sleeper. It is an educational poster, produced by 'The Schoolmistress'. It shows all of the flags of the Allied nations in 1914. 1918 London and Home Counties Ministry of Food Poster This is a March 1st 1918 dated, poster, produced by The Ministry of Food. Sutton Local Food Control Committee, acting from orders from The Ministry of Food, set out on the poster a maximum ceiling of meat prices for retails in London and the Home Counties. The poster is large measuring 89 by 58 cm / 35 by 22 Inches. It did rip recently, resulting in a large tear occurring. However, this can be repaired quite easily. The poster was printed by William Pile Ltd, 26, High Street, in Sutton. It is a remarkable sleeper and will look very impressive, once framed. PAY PAL Customers Only.

1934 Saar Tinnie This is a 1934 dated, Third Reich tinnie. It is a good size, measuring 4 by 4 cm. It comes with it's original pin. It has been re soldered back on. PAY PAL Customers Only.
1935 ARP Gas Manual This is a very uncommon ARP manual to encounter. It is 1935 dated and in hardback format. It shows how far sighted, the ARP planners actually were, considering that this is a 1935 manual. The manual is in very good condition, as shown. 100 % Sleeper. PAY PAL Customers Only.
1939 Signals Satchel This is a 1939 dated, M.E.Co example. It has been well used and does have some black stains, as shown. The web strap is not original to the pack. It is being sold here, as found. PAY PAL Customers Only.
1939 Western Front Map This is a late 1939 period, map of The Western Front. It was produced by The Daily Express for The Home Front. The map is very large, measuring 1 Metre by by 76 cm. 1939 Pattern Belt This is a salty, wartime example. It surfaced without any of it's front, brass buckles, which are missing. The rear buckles are still in place and completely untouched. The leather is still supple. It is priced accordingly. PAY PAL Customers Only.

1940 Empire Day Certificate This wartime example, is named to a Pauline Jones, from Rhyl, in Wales. She wrote her address on the back, as shown. It has a small tear to one side. It measures 20 by 13 cm. PAY PAL Customers Only.
1940 Field Service Pocket Book For Staff Officers (India) This is a 1940 dated, issued example. It has suffered considerable insect damage to the outside, as shown. The inside of the manual is in good condition, as is the pull out section. It provides a gold mine of information and is priced accordingly. 1940 Fighter Command HQ Christmas Card This is a 1940 dated, Christmas card, from RAF Fighter Command HQ. It is , a poignant card. It was signed by a Squadron Leader J.G Walker. Sadly, Squadron Leader, James Geoffrey Walker was killed on a raid over Germany in November 1941. His service number was 73012, he was serving with 102 squadron. 2 Pounder Anti- Tank Gun Army Manual This is a March 1942 dated, amended example. It is an issued example. The vet has neatly, stuck into the manual, the August 1942 amendments on many pages. The manual has suffered some minor, water damage to the front cover. There is also some rust bleeding to the staples. These minor faults aside, it is priced accordingly. Canadian Army Trousers These are a 1944 dated, pair of size 10, Canadian Army trousers. The soldier's name Aston and his Army number 18 76 72 2, have been inked out, but are very clear, to make out. The pair have suffered some moth damage, but it does not detract from how good they look. The mothing is concentrated around the crouch area. As the photos show, the BD does look impressive and the moth damage is not so visible. I have taken enough photos here to give an accurate impression of how good the trousers do actually look. They have been pressed and clearly looked after. Only the moth damage, lets this pair down. The pair have just one button missing, on the fly area. Otherwise, they are in very good condition. Despatch Rider's Photo Album This is a 1945/46 period Army Photo album. It is small sized, measuring just 14 by 9 cm. Each photo measures 9 by 7 cm, with 17 military related and 6 civilian ones. Only one photo is missing. The photos belonged to a Lance Corporal in the 7th Armoured Division. On his Despatch Rider's helmet, The Desert Rats, divisional flash is clearly painted. It would appear later on, the corporal was posted to the Independent Infantry Brigade, as one photo, shows him standing outside the Brigade's HQ. The helmet markings also change in the later photos. Halifax Bomber Pilot's Manuals / Photo Grouping This is a small, wartime grouping, belonging to a LAC Geoffrey Oldroyd, 938057. He has a RAF, service record, beginning in 1940 and his demob booklets, suggest that he was demobbed in 1945. The grouping consists of 2 Pilot's manuals for the Halifax II, heavy bomber, 5 wartime photos, some demobbing booklets and 2 packets of family negatives from the 1960's. The Pilot's manual for the Halifax II bomber is 1943 dated. It is missing it's front cover and is a heavily used manual and salty, as shown. It is has several, photo, pull out sections, as shown. The second manual is a leather bound Rolls Royce Engines manual for the Halifax II. Oldroyd has named this on the inside, front cover, as shown. The 5, postcard sized, photos show Oldroyd on leave, in Tel Aviv, in Palestine. These are May 1942 dated. The Pilot's manual measures 20 by 17 cm and the Merlin Engines manual 12 by 16 cm. Hitler Youth Belt Buckle This is a good, early war example, which is clearly marked on the reverse. It has an unusual, wartime, black paint finish added to the front. It is open to conjecture, whether this was combat applied, in the closing stages of the war. It could be an immediate Postwar measure, to de nazify the buckle. What is certain, is that this paint finish is an original wartime addition. It's previous collector, chose to remove the finish. Hong Kong Photo This is a 1910 dated photo. It shows E Company, of the KOYLI, on parade in Hong Kong. In the middle section, the officers are sitting by a chalk board with the details of the photo, written on it. The photo has suffered recently from a very large scratch, as shown. It a particularly large photo, measuring 42 by 32 cm and is mounted on thick card. The clarity of the image is exceptional. Virtually every uniform detail is visible. London Blitz Bomb Feature This is an October 4th 1940 dated edition of 'War Weekly' magazine. In this edition the front page focuses on a U Boat sinking of a civilian passenger ship. The back page has a special photo feature on an Army Bomb Disposal team at work in London. The team photographed are seen removing a 1,200 lb bomb, from a hospital. Led by a Lt Davies, this team were responsible , for defusing a similar bomb at St Paul, the week before. This back page would look impressive, if framed. London Post Office Casualty Certificate This not a common, Home Front certificate to encounter. It celebrates the service of a former, London Post Officer worker during the war. The certificate does have a most, unusual twist though. Neville Percy Baker, served in the London Post Office, up to 1941. He then joined the RAF and served with 171 squadron. His service number was 1603771. Baker was killed on 7th March 1945, while serving with 171 squadron, who were operating Halifaxes on radio, counter measures operations. He was 22 years old. The frame measures 28 by 33 cm. The backing paper to the frame, has been removed, at some point, but the certificate is still sealed inside. Luftwaffe Eastern Front Photo Grouping This is a large, wartime grouping, belonging to a Luftwaffe NCO, who fought on The Eastern Front. The grouping consists of 180 photos. The photos are good sizes. They range from 9 by 6 cm, 10 by 7 cm and 12 by 9 cm. The majority of the photos are meticulously dated, and are annotated in detail. The vet was posted to the Southern Sector of the Eastern Front, as the majority of the photos, are shown to be by the coast. The range of subject matter in the photos is diverse. The photos cover the period from 1941 to 1943. They don't appear to have been stuck in an album and surfaced together loose. All of the photos are wartime and there are no Prewar or Postwar photos in the grouping. They are all original, wartime photos and there are no copies in this grouping, whatsoever. The tunic has been used by a reenactor, who has added a REPRODUCTION Iron Cross and SS insignia to it. The tunic is in good condition. It has 2 minor faults, with the top, right hand pocket button is missing and on the bottom right, there is a small stain. It is a medium sized example and will fit a size 34 - 36 Inch waist. RAD Woman's Photo Album This is a charming, small album, which covers the period from April 1940 to April 1941. It shows, one year in the life of this young RAD member. The album begins with a single portrait and ends with one, showing, the RAD awarded badge, at the end of one year service. There are 82 photos and 5 postcards, which are all wartime. The album measures 22 by 25 cm and all of the original, fly sheets are present and in mint condition. The subject matter in the album, show that this young recruit wasn't a flag waving National Socialist. In contrast, the rural setting and the everyday chores, shows RAD service for a young woman, on her journey, in this quiet corner of Germany. All of the photos are annotated and some of the postcards, are written on the reverse. The front cover has delicately pressed flowers, which for an 80 year old album, is quite remarkable. RAF 1945 Pocket Diary This is an interesting slice, of late war History. The pocket diary is named inside to a Harry Wilding, who served in the RAF. He was stationed in The Far East in 1944/45. His diary shows that he went on a Jungle training course in March 1945 and saw action in the jungle a week later. One of the entries show that Wilding was armed with a Sten, at one stage of his combat. The entries end with his posting from Ceylon to India, later in May 1945. RAF Aircrew Casualty Medal Grouping This grouping is new to the market, having come directly from the vet's family. They are named to a Flight Sgt, J. Hindle. Hindle was killed in February 1944 after a raid on Berlin. His plane crashed on it's return. 3 of the medals are untouched, The Defence Medal appears to have been displayed, sometime in the past. The album appeared to have belonged to an Army officer. Whether he volunteered for the RFC later in the war is possibility. Welsh Guards Middle East Photo Albums These are a pair of photo albums belonging to a private G. Blewe, who served with Number 3 Platoon, Prince of Wales Company, 1st Battalion , The Welsh Guards. Both albums are fully annotated and cover the period from 1944 to 1947 in Palestine. Blewe was stationed at Metula in Palestine. The first album contains 72 photos and has an attractive wooden cover, made in Palestine. The second album contains 125 phtotos, which end in 1947, when Blewe was demobbed. In addition, there are 2 , large wedding photos of Blewe and his wife, from the late 40's. This brings the total count of photos to nearly 200 in this collection. Virtually all of the photos are military related. There are a few beach scenes on leave in places like Cyprus and a few home leaves, back in England. The photo content is impressive with the best photos showing Brens, Stens, Piat, with several truck and jeep photos. The majority of the photos are taken in or around the camp. Of added interest in the albums are visits to Egypt and Malta. Battleships are seen anchored in port at Valetta. What makes these albums so interesting, is the fact that Blewe meticulously, annotated all of the photos. In so doing, he has created a nice slice of History of his platoon, during this period. Some of the photos have come loose in the albums, over time, so some TLC will be required. 90% of the photos are correctly mounted. PAY PAL Customers Only.

Women's Home Defence Feature This is a February 1942 dated edition of 'Picture Post'. It has a front cover, showing an Army instructor, with a South Kensington unit of The Women's Home Defence. The article is an unusual feature of this lesser known unit. The Women's Home Defence, aimed to give women weapons training, to deal with the enemy. In addition, the magazine has an interesting feature on the Singapore Garrison. It is in very good condition, as shown. WVS Kent Beret This is a good, untouched example. The beret badge is clearly Postwar. However, the beret itself is clearly earlier issue and probably wartime. The date is blurred, as shown. Yeomanry Bugler's Group Photo This is a turn of the century period photo. It shows a bugler, standing by his horse, with his bugle, hanging at his belt. The photo is now sepia toned, due to it's age and it has one rip, to one side. The 17th Lancers were based at Hemel Hempstead, pre 1914. So this picture is possibly even Boer War period. It measures 15 by 11 cm and printed on very thick card. PAY PAL Customers Only.
Yeomanry Photo Set This is a small set of 4, Yeomanry photos. They surfaced together and belonged to the same soldier. They appear to be turn of the century period. They are large sized, measuring 16 by 11 cm and 3 are mounted on thick, photographic card. There is one unusual photo, showing the soldier on his barracks room bed. His pith helmet and cavalry sword, are seen hanging on the right hand side. The set are quite salty, but they are priced accordingly. PAY PAL Customers Only.
